Kershaw has a wide range of blades to suit your everyday carry needs. Selections from folders to fixed blades, from push daggers to kitchen sets and tomahawks will suit every occasion. I will be focusing on Kershaw folding knives today, but you can be sure I’ll have other articles on the Kershaw line in the near future.
The following is taken from the Kershaw website:
Kershaw was founded in 1974 to design and manufacture tools that knife users would be proud to own, carry, and use. This has meant that every Kershaw knife must be of the highest quality. Whether it’s a hardworking pocketknife, a hunting knife, or a special collectors’ edition, Kershaw always chooses appropriate, high-quality materials and is dedicated to intensive craftsmanship. Along with extremely tight tolerances and state-of-the-art manufacturing techniques, this ensures that Kershaw knives provide a lifetime of performance.
Kershaw pioneered the use of many of the technologies and advanced materials that are today standard in the knife industry. Our SpeedSafe assisted opening knives were first-to-market. We introduced the concept of knives with interchangeable blades in our Blade Traders. Recently, our Composite Blade technology, which combines two steels into one blade, gives knife users the best of both worlds by enabling us to use steel known for edge retention on the edge and steel known for strength on the spine. And we will keep on innovating, bringing new and better technologies and materials to today’s knifemaking industry and knife-using public.
The first of these Kershaw folding knives is the Rove, which sports detailed jimping on the built-in flipper, a large lanyard hole and a reversible deep-carry pocket clip while still maintaining a lightweight design. It is the perfect pocket knife for every task from household chores to outdoor adventures. The Kershaw Rove features a drop-point blade of 8Cr13MoV stainless steel, offering excellent hardness, wear resistance and edge retention while its stonewashed finish hides scratches. The blade opens quickly and easily with SpeedSafe® assisted opening and the extra-heavy jimping on the flipper provides security even in wet or slippery conditions. The handle is glass-filled nylon with heavy texturing for extra secure grip. The Rove’s secure liner lock provides for safe blade lockup and releases easily when the job is done. An over-sized, starburst pivot finishes the Rove’s sleek aesthetic.
The Kershaw® Swerve® Assisted Opening Folding Knife carries deeply and deploys instantly to provide you with a razor-sharp blade at a moment’s notice. Utilizing Kershaw’s SpeedSafe® Assisted Opening system, the Swerve opens with a manual push on the blade’s thumb stud or with a pull on the blade’s flipper. Once open, the blade locks into position with a liner lock to keep it from folding in the user’s hand during use. Thumb serrations and the finger flipper, which also serves as a finger guard, keep your hand from slipping when cutting. The wide, drop-point blade is constructed of 8Cr13MoV stainless steel with a mild stonewash finish. The Swerve Assisted Opening Folding Knife features an exclusive K-Texture® handle to enhance your grip. A reversible pocket clip carries the knife well concealed.
The Serrated Volt II, designed by custom knifemaker RJ Martin, is a hard-working EDC with sleek style and excellent performance. The Volt II classic drop-point blade is perfect for just about any general utility task and the partial 2-step blade serration allows the blade to whip through tough and fibrous materials such as rope, webbing, and cord. The 3.25” blade is made of 8Cr13MoV stainless steel and heat-treated to bring out the steel’s high-performance characteristics of hardness, strength, and edge retention. The Volt II’s glass-filled nylon handle is contoured for comfort and features a diamond pattern grip for a strong hold. Heavy jimping along the blade’s spine provides a sturdy thumb rest. Equipped with Kershaw’s patented SpeedSafe assisted opening system, the serrated Volt II can be opened with one hand for lightning fast blade access. A secure liner lock in the handle ensures safe, confident blade lockup, preventing the Volt II from accidentally closing during use.
Kershaw’s Brawler is an excellent utility knife, designed to perform at the top of its game every time. The Brawler’s 3-inch modified tanto blade is designed for excellent piercing capability, punching through tough materials when required. The blade is made of high-performance 8Cr13MoV steel, featuring excellent edge retention and corrosion resistance. The top of the Brawler’s blade features a swedge grind, narrowing the blade and adding to its piercing power. The Kershaw Brawler’s straight belling offers excellent cutting capacity and is perfect for bearing down on a task. The blade is opened quickly and easily with one hand, thanks to SpeedSafe assisted opening and a simple pull back on the built-in flipper. The angled handle curves easily into the palm, and jimping along the back of the blade offers additional traction. Completing the premium design are sturdy glass-filled nylon handle scales, a secure locking liner and a 4-position pocket-clip.
The Kershaw® Shuffle® II Lockback Folding Knife takes multi-function versatility to the razor-sharp edge of premium utility tools. One of the more popular models of Kershaw folding knives is the Cryo II, which gets a sleek update with a full body BlackWash finish. This provides the knife with a cool broken in look and also provides extra protection for the metal while helping to hide scratches and scuffs. Similar to the original, the Cryo II BlackWash is designed by custom knifemaker Rick Hinderer and precision engineered by Kershaw. A razor-sharp 3.25” blade is made of precision heat treated 8Cr13MoV stainless steel offering toughness, edge retention and corrosion resistance. SpeedSafe assisted opening enables quick and smooth blade operation using the built-in flipper or thumbstud, safely keeping fingers out of the way. The stainless steel handle with a sturdy frame lock securely locks the blade open during use and a Hinderer lockbar stabilizer ensures the lock doesn’t over-extend. For maximum carry flexibility and discretion, the BlackWash Cryo II includes a four-position deep-carry pocketclip and a pre-drilled attachment point for lanyards or key chains.
The slim, sleek Dividend ™ Assisted Opening Folding Knife from Kershaw® is a pleasure to carry and quick to deploy. Utilizing the Speedsafe® system, the Dividend opens instantly with a pull on the finger flipper. Once open, a sturdy liner lock keeps the blade from folding during use. The 420HC drop point blade with a full belly and a thin, sharp point both slices and pierces with ease. The flipper doubles as a finger guard to keep your hand off the blade. The handle is lightweight glass-filled nylon. The Dividend Assisted Opening Folding Knife comes with a reversible, tip-up, deep carry pocket clip.
The Kershaw Knockout surpasses its immediate competition on a number of counts. With this new color combination, the tactical use and military grade functionality only becomes more apparent. As an extreme tactical multi-use blade, the ‘knocked out’ portion of its handle section provides better grip in wet, muddy, or bloody conditions, while also giving it a slimmer fighting weight. The deep carry pocket-clip enhances its military grade use for discreet and concealed carry when necessary. For its killer camouflage look and function, this affordable general-purpose stout knife is an instant classic for newcomers and collectors alike.
The Blur Tanto Tactical Knife has a strong 3.4″ 14C28N Sandvik stainless steel blade featuring an aggressive, 2-step serrated edge. This tough blade also features Kershaw’s black Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) coating for enhanced corrosion resistance and low reflectivity. A SpeedSafe assisted opening design, the Blur Tanto delivers fast and easy one-handed opening in demanding situations. This tough tactical blade also features Kershaw’s Inset liner lock to give you the strength of a standard liner lock system from a thinner and lighter knife. Reversible pocket-clip. Strong, 6061-T6 anodized aluminum handles sport Trac-Tec inserts for dependable grip and control.
The last, but certainly not least, of these Kershaw folding knives is the Knockout Damascus. With an Olive Drab green handle and a Damascus blade, it looks great. The aluminum handle has been “knocked out” and inset with a stainless-steel plate to create the Sub-Frame Lock. You get the lightweight benefits of aluminum handles and the strength of a steel frame lock with integral lockbar stabilization. The Kershaw Damascus Knockout also features SpeedSafe assisted opening. It’s equipped with the new deep-carry clip and is drilled for quad-carry: tip-up, tip-down, left- or right-handed.
